Maximising Your Office Filing Storage Space
Save up to 70% floor space and optimise your filing storage with this ingenious solution.
Demand for office space in Australia is on the rise, pushing up prices and making each square metre more valuable. With such a premium on floor space, smart businesses are becoming more efficient in how they use what they’ve got without making staff feel like they’re crammed in sardine-style. Digitising as much as possible can certainly help to reduce the space needed for filing, but most businesses still need or prefer to keep physical records, files and materials onsite, within reach and with ready access. Storing these documents in the smallest possible area is the logical step to alleviating the pressure of space limitations.
Traditional storage
The traditional formula for storing binders, folders, files and other office documents has been a shelving system that usually takes up a large amount of wall and floor space. The recent move to more collaborative workplaces, with the popularity of hot desking or Activity Based Working environments, has resulted in large open areas with less wall space. This is a problem for traditional filing storage. Low-lying shelving may be used to break up regions in open offices, but offers less storage capacity.Circular argument
If you want to save space, the solution is to go from flat to round. You may be familiar with the clothes rolling life hack for packing a suitcase. By rolling up each item of clothing you can reduce its surface area and optimise how each piece fits into the bag. By applying this principle and rolling the traditional filing shelves into a round storage unit you can save a significant amount of space. This is how Compactfile works, converting what would be 210cm of shelving into an 80cm diameter.Round we go
Compactfile storage units have been designed so that more binders can fit into a smaller area. The entire unit rotates for easy access of your files, and maximises space by having the wedge-shaped binders fill the full circle of each level. In its small 80cm diameter, each level of the Compactfile can accommodate up to 24 A4-size binders with an 80mm spine that are filled to normal extent. So a 6-level unit has the potential to store up to 144 binders! Even “over-full" binders will fit, although obviously less per level. On the level
Compactfile is available in 1-6 level units, with additional levels able to be added to increase the height up to the maximum 6 levels. Each level has a locating ring at the centre so binders do not go in too deep, plus a raised edge on the outer rim to stop them from sliding off. There are also 4 screwed-on sides for each level, creating equal quadrants for greater stability. You can add on accessories to subdivide levels for storing vertical files or media, or a pull-out shelf that gives you a worktop to view files or binders at the unit. With or without walls
The 2 to 6-level Compactfiles are freestanding, stable units. You can place them up against a wall and even pack them closely together because the rotation allows every binder to be readily accessed. Or you can place them anywhere in a room. Freestanding storage can utilise dead space and create a natural flow to a work area. You could create your own wall or partition with a straight or wavy row of units. The single level units are designed for tabletops, offering optimal storage space for your desk, pedestal, credenza or table. In shape
The cylindrical shape of the Compactfile filing storage unit, along with its graphite finish, is sleek and elegant and looks stunning in any work environment. It adds a point of difference to angular office furniture and complements rounded desks. The 5-armed base provides optimum stability and has fine-tuned height adjustment so that it can be levelled on carpet and uneven surfaces.A well-designed workplace will be both attractive and functional, nurturing workers and meeting their workstyle needs.
